Last days in Horsens

What can you feel after living one year in a whole different place, in a different country, in a different house, with different people, with different friends, speaking in a different language, in a different school, with a different weather, different food, different timetables, different habits and most of all, in a totally different lifestyle?

The answer is not simple. Almost six months have passed since I left the most fulfilling time of my life, the one year period I spent in Horsens, Denmark, under the ERASMUS student exchange programme. As the last days were arriving, people started saying goodbye to each other, some first, others later, every single time with the usual and emotional exchange of hugs, kisses, tear drops and the "see you soon" and "hope you will visit me" wishes. After one year in such environment, after experiencing and learning so much, after living incredible moments day after day, after spending almost every single hour surrounded by friends and getting used to such way of life, my thoughts were divided when the day to go finally came. One the one hand, our country is our country, our home is our home, our family is our family, and all this had been many miles away from the place I had been during this year; on the other hand, the feeling of leaving such a place - which I knew I would remember forever, and friends who I knew I would not probably see more than a few times during the rest of my life - was indescribable.

The last day in Horsens will live in my memory for the time to come, carrying the sadness of leaving my almost perfect place, the room and flat I got used to see as mine, the city I knew almost as the palm of my hand, and the wonderful friends I made for life, but with the happiness and the warm feeling I carry each day that passes telling me "I did it, I loved it and I will remember it forever".

Servus!

Bavarian Dinner

I guess you could say that two weeks before it was the Bavarian week for me: besides Rock Im Park, Thomas' family came to visit him and his parents threw a very nice Bavarian dinner a few days before I went to Germany. This is the second bavarian dinner I have here, but this time without the organisers of the first one - Friedl and Armin, snif! The dinner took place at the common kitchen and everything was really delicious, as usual! There was a lot of delicious food (like the ravioli, but better) and, of course, of the best beer in the world (besides Super Bock, of course) - the Weiss Bier! Thank you Thomas' parents and those who organised this nice dinner :)

SERVUS! :D

Tornei-me um fã, obviamente. É a loucura!

Hello internet freaks! It's been awhile since last time I updated this incredible space! But don't worry, you will get to know a bit of what has happened since then during this terrific reading you are about to experience! I will divide the posts by subject, NiIiiiice!

Wednesday - 18/04

Friedl arrives! That's true, one of the two coolest German guys ever has came back to Horsens to visit his second family (us, of course, "HeLLooOoo?!!!"). He got acquainted with a welcome Friedl warm-up dinner at Meri's, David's and ex-Friedl's place. Of course the first thing he did when he arrived was to go to the Vitus Vikings practice, where everyone welcomed him cheerfully (maybe the weather also, can't remember quite well, but "could be").

Friday - 20/04

Armin arrives! The best German neighbour ever also came back to visit his crazy friends, "it's OkaAaay!!".

Today we celebrated Elena's birthday. She came back from Tenerife looking like a little shrimp, together with other elements of her species (: Roman (.it), Sebastien (.fr), Agne (.lt), Laura (.lt) and Andrea (.it). These lucky friends went on a flash trip to Dublin, Tenerife, Barcelona in 6 days and for what I've heard they had to carry their luggage all the way and didn't sleep much, but, hey, they are ERASMUS students, so who cares? :)

There was a nice dinner in the common kitchen and after a party in the big common room (now we have 3 common rooms, what a luxury!).

Saturday - 21/04

By the morning, after a "well spent" night, Vica (from Russia, she has the best haircut in Horsens and she is Fernando's girlfriend (joder tio!)) had the kindness of cutting my hair in a really great way! I certainly became a fan of her magnificent work! The day before I had tried to go to a store to cut my hair; the store would close at 19h, so I went there around 16h, when they told me they could not cut my hair because it was too late and they wouldn't have the time... I asked when I could cut it again... It would be open the next day (Saturday, after a night of party) from 8h to 13h... I said "maybe I can come at 11h" and they said "no, that's too late, you should come at 8h, some people are even here before 8h". F#$kin crazy, man! Denmark never stops surprising...!

Later in the afternoon, me, Friedl, Manuel and Ivan went to play our first game of the season with the Vitus Vikings. The debut could not be better: 7-2! (we lost).

In the evening, me, Roman, Meri and Marta threw a giant dinner in my corridor for over 30 people. We needed to do something special for the German kids...! There was never so many people in this corridor as well as in our flat. We rehearsed a few Skol Movements and there was plenty of food and drinks for all the tastes.

After the dinner there was the usual party, this time at Zosia's flat, where me, David, Friedl, Armin, Matthieu and Julie had some nice 1st semester old-school partying! "SkOOoooooOOL MooOOOvemEnt!"

Sunday - 22/04

Afternoon spent in the Table Soccer Addicted F.C.! Evening, dinner at Camille's and Poker Night.

Monday - 23/04

Goodbye day for Friedl and Armin. The three of us are meeting at Rock Im Park festival in Germany from the 1st to the 3rd of June. If you want to sign up for this trip, you just need to fill the form E530-52B, that can be picked up somewhere no one knows quite well (nah, just kidding, it's not Portugal!). Want to see the bands that are playing? I know you don't because then you will want to go but you can't! But I let you see the poster here.

Ciao raggazi!

Very goooodeeee!!! (basta verem a cara do Friedl)

Ciao raggazi!

This post aims to tell you about the italian buffet that took place two days after the fantastic Armin's splint-off/birthday dinner at our flat, or by other words, on the 17th. Our italian friends (who are many, 16 they say) had the brilliant idea of making an italian buffet in the recently inaugurated common room. These kids had the hard and adventurous task of cooking for more than 70 people!!! CRaaAaaaZzyyy!!! But they did it!!! Everything was delicious and there was enough food for everyone! I got full and we know it's not the easiest thing to do :) There was Italian pizza (the true one), pasta, "bellini" (italian tasty drink) and some other good stuff! I don't even need to say there was party all night long and lots of smiles as usual. Very goooodeeee!!! (just look at Friedl's joy!)

Congratulations to all
the Italian guys who cooked and made all the arrangements! Everything was great! I saw them working on the stuff and i know many of them worked hard for long hours! Salute!

SKOL!

On the last 15th our great friend and my flat mate Armin celebrated his splint removal (and his birthday!). Poor Armin got injured playing football one week before coming to Horsens (!!!) and had to use a splint on his knee for 12 weeks, which means "no sports and football little Armin!". Finally the 12 weeks are gone and little Armin can be again a happy human being and play football like the children of his age :)
To celebrate this historical event a dinner was organised at our flat (mine, Armin's and Matthieu's) with some special guests. Since here it's very "chic" to make cute videos about our parties and our best ridiculous moments i decided to make this lovely movie shown below. Many of you may not understand some jokes contained here but that fact reveals itself as perfectly natural. I'll explain some, so you can grow up as individuals and make this world a better place in the future: "very goode" is the way Italian people say "very good", "skol" is the same as "cheers", "skol movement" is something that we invented and will be immortalized for ever!
I hope you like it!
Comments are welcome (after all, it's my first video!).
SKOL!

Aleluiaaaaaaaaa!!!

VIAGEM A COPENHAGA (12/11 - 13/11) - The "very goode" trip

Could be.

Parecia bastante in

Hallellujah!!!

What has this guy been up to these days?! He doesn't even update this damn thing!

True... true... it's been 3 weeks.

Reasons: too much studying (yessss...! tasks and tests, but it's okaaay!), partying and other nice stuff!

Since there's a lot to tell, i'm going to write a post for each adventure so that it can be easier for the "user" to read.

TRIP TO COPENHAGEN (12/11 - 13/11) - The "very goode" trip

Exactly 3 weeks ago, the Common Room from Kamtjatka (our residence) was inaugurated with a House Warming Party. The best thing was we made a party outside the party until late in the morning.

Rise and shine next day at 7 in the morning? Could be. This time we learned the German sometimes get late too (mainly after going to sleep at 6am after a well drunk night!) :D I got up in time (as usual :D) and went to wake up Armin more than once! I wish you could have seen/heard him! "Scheisse!! Scheisse!!
"#$" "#$"#$ $%#$5 $%#$%". Awesome! Hihi :D

This trip to the capital in a very cold day was made by the following individuals:
  • Daniel Silva (PT)
  • Karolina Lasota (PL)
  • David Lovey (HU)
  • Armin Scheday (DE)
  • Friedrich Schmidt-Modrow, the driver (DE)

The trip lasted 2h30 by highway. We only had to pay the passage through the bridge that goes to Copenhagen's island because here you don't pay for the highway. We stayed in a 5-star hostel (DanHostel, 17eur./night) that looked like a really hotel with 13 floors or something. We stayed in a room with a very nice view over the river, nothing compared to the hostel at London (we are in Denmark, where everything is beautiful and neat!). It was full, but we got a shared room with a gentleman from Wales, a guy from Canada and a girl from a country i don't remember. We met Americans and Australians.

Copenhagen is a beautiful city with a nice atmosphere and not as big as what you might think. Tivoli (amusement park) was closed and only opened on the 15th for the X-mas season. It looked very nice from the outside with the rollercoasters, trees, lakes, lights, etc. We visited the downtown, we
went on a boat, we saw the LITTLE Mermaid, we went to a hippie neighbourhood, we saw the guard change (UK style), i spent 11eur. at a McDonald's, we went out at night, etc.

It was an excellent trip, with a funny cold, indeed! A city to visit again, for suuuure!
