1 year, a lifetime

Nova vida. Esta foi uma semana bastante especial, diferente e não menos importante. Primeiro contrato, primeiro trabalho, primeira remuneração, novo desafio, estágio profissional, empresa multinacional, muita gente a falar dinamarquês, contacto com profissionais experientes e com uma nova realidade. Desde o dia 12 de Fevereiro até ao dia 12 de Julho estarei a estagiar em Vejle, uma cidade a 30 min. de Horsens, onde estão as instalações da ADP Dealer Services Denmark e onde passarei todos os dias de segunda a sexta-feira entre as 8h30 e as 16h30 (14h30 às sextas). Acordar às 6h40, tomar banho, tomar pequeno-almoço, ir até à estação de bicicleta ou de autocarro, apanhar o comboio até Vejle e finalmente apanhar novo autocarro até à empresa. Novo percurso no regresso. Um facto curioso: a comida na cantina da empresa é mais barata que na cantina da faculdade, será que isto faz algum sentido...? A mim nem por isso. Pelo que me disseram, a média de idade dos trabalhadores da empresa é de 40 e poucos anos, pelo que eu sou não muito mais que um rapazito que lá anda :)



Para além de trabalho foi também uma semana especial pois marcou o início do segundo semestre aqui na Vitus Bering. Muitas caras simpáticas e larocas novas assim como recentes aquisições/amizades. Substituição no quarto 16: saem Matthieu (.fr) e Julie (.fr) e entra Sebastian (.fr). Substituição no quarto 18: sai Armin (.de) e entra Roman (.ru/.it). Substituição no quarto 13: sai Friedl (.de) e entra Laura (.lt). Três substituições bastante importantes nas imediações: primeiro, porque tenho novos vizinhos, segundo, porque alguns dos meus melhores amigos já não andam por cá, terceiro, porque o David vai passar a viver com duas raparigas, Camille, cuidado! :P



Desde as últimas semanas que o nosso apartamento é alvo de alguns jantares interessantes, com novos intervenientes que integram agora parte da remodelada equipa: Ivan (.es), Elena (.it), Andrea (.it), Leonor (.fr), para além dos meus vizinhos Roman e Sebastian. Nestes últimos dias tivemos também a companhia da super simpática namorada do Sebastian, que embora só tenha estado cá uma semana vai fazer a sua falta no futuro!

No fim da última semana, teve lugar também nova Freshman Trip, onde cerca de 100 estudantes se reuniram para um grande convívio e palhaçada. Desta vez, ao contrário da última, fui como guia e não como caloiro (sim, já sou muito experiente por estes lados!). Os estudantes foram divididos em 12 equipas e destacaram-se competições como a construção de um mecanismo para introduzir cerveja num copo, competição em que 1 rapaz e 1 rapariga têm de trocar roupas, ou outra em que um rapaz tem de passar uma pequena bola (do tamanho de uma de ténis) por todo o corpo de uma rapariga, por debaixo de toda a roupa, e vice-versa. Houve também um jantar de gala interessante, embora não tanto como da vez anterior.

New life. This was a very special week, different and not less important. First contract, first job, first remuneration, new challenge, professional traineeship, multinational enterprise, many people speaking Danish, contact with professionals and with a new reality. Since February the 12th until July the 12th I'll be a trainee in Vejle, a city about 30 min. away from Horsens, where ADP Dealer Services Denmark's offices are located and where I will spend every day from 8h30 to 16h30 (14h30 on Fridays). Waking up at 6h40, taking a shower, eating breakfast, going to the train station by bike or bus, catching the train to Vejle and finally catching a new bus to the company. The same way on the return. A curious fact: the food at the company's canteen is cheaper than in the school's canteen, does this make any sense...? Not much for me. As I was told, the average age from the company's employees is around 40 and something, which means I'm not much more than a little boy walking around there :)



Besides work it was also a special week because it marked the beginning of the second semester here at Vitus Bering. Many new cute nice faces as well as new acquisitions/friendships. Substitution in room 16: Matthieu (.fr) and Julie (.fr) out, Sebastian (.fr) in. Substitution in room 18: Armin (.de) out, Roman (.ru/.it) in. Substitution in room 13: Friedl (.de) out, Laura (.lt) in. Three quite (sorry for using Armin's word :P) important substitutions on the surroundings: first, because I have new neighbours, second, because some of my best friends are not here anymore, third, because David will be living with two girls, Camille watch out! :P



Since the last weeks that our apartment is a target for some interesting dinners, with new interventionists that are now part of our renewed team: Ivan (.es), Elena (.it), Andrea (.it), Leonor (.fr), besides my neighbours Roman and Sebastian. These last days we had also the company of Sebastian's girlfriend, who although has only been here for a few days will also be missed!

Almost two weeks ago took place the new Freshman Trip, which got about 100 students to gather and have fun in a cottage somewhere in the South of Denmark. This time, as opposed to the last one, I went as a guide and not as a Freshman (yes, I am very experienced here...! or maybe not). The students were divided in 12 teams and the highlights of the trip were the gala dinner (not as good as the previous one though) and some competitions like the construction of a device to pour beer into a glass, a competition where a boy had to change clothes with a girl, or even another one where a boy had to pass a small ball (tennis sized) through a girl's body, under her clothes, and vice-versa.
